This is an excellent opportunity to learn on the job and work supporting senior developers on a variety of web projects.
The role would suit someone who has a grasp of the fundamentals of web development and is looking to expand their capabilities.
Required Skillset:
The ideal candidate would have some basic understanding/experience in and around the following:
- Experience with modern HTML & CSS.
- Experience with modern Javascript/JQuery/Ajax.
- Understanding of the basic principles of PHP & MYSQL.
- The ability to consider & solve problems, including effectively diagnosing and resolving bugs.
- Good communication & teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn & improve development skills, practices and techniques.
- Creativity & desire to produce work of a high quality.
- Ability to think through and solve problems.
Desirable:
- Understanding of the basic principles of WordPress and of WordPress hooks, functions, and general structure.
- Understanding of the basic principles of JS frameworks such as Vue or React.js.
The Role
Guided by 2 senior developers you would work to hone your development skillset by hands-on work and training. The right candidate will be willing to get involved with both frontend & backend development on a variety of web projects, from SMEs to large scale Enterprise clients, in addition to supporting existing client websites & development tasks.
- Development of custom WordPress websites on custom-built themes.
- Development, set up and customization of WooCommerce and user account login systems and subsequent functionality.
- Development of client-specific custom functionality where applicable. Working with the ticketing system to proactively support existing WordPress sites.
- Working with the front-end team to develop sites using WP API in a headless manner with Next/Nuxt.js as appropriate.
- Working with the dev team to support with a range of development tasks as necessary.
- You’ll need to be able to be in the Guildford office at least 1 day a week, apart from this the role can be remote as needed.
